Water conservation measures are an important first step in protecting our water supply. When we conserve water we save money and energy and help protect our environment. Click “read more” for Tips
Chose shrubs and ground covers, instead of turf, for hard-to-water areas such as steep slopes and isolated strips.
Water your lawn and garden in the morning or evening when temperatures are cooler to minimize evaporation.
Spreading a layer of organic mulch around plants retains moisture and saves water, time, and money.
Use a sprinkler for large areas of grass. Water small patches by hand to avoid waste.
Repair dripping faucets by replacing washers. One drop per second wastes 2700 gallons of water per year!
Collect water from you roof to water your garden.
When buying new appliances consider those that offer cycle and load size adjustments. They are more water and energy efficient.
When the kids want to cool off, use the sprinkler in an area where your lawn needs it the most.
Careful water use today may be the only way to avoid severe shortages in the future!
